Summary: | In order to develop an adequate infrastructure to optimize the service of Tanjung Priok container flows, Indonesian Ministry has decided to do container terminal area expansion in Tanjung Priok area, called the New Priok Container Terminal, also known as the Kalibaru Container Terminal. This container terminal was designed to accommodate total containers up to 4,5 million TEUs, and to facilitate container ships with 13.000 to 15.000 TEUs capacity and with deadweights (DWT) above 150.000 tonnes. In order to achieve the initial design and to make ends meet, it is also needed to have adequate port facilities such as navigation channel and turning basin. To make the layout design for navigation channel and turning basin in waters, there are some crucial aspects to be considerated and calculated such as the depth, width, bends, and slopes of the navigation channel, and also the depth and the diameter of the turning basin. According to the Executive Summary of Kalibaru Container Terminal, the navigation channel and turning basin are designed with -16 up to -20 metres Low Water Spring (mLWS) depth. Thus, to achieve the desired depth, dredging work is needed in the Kalibaru Terminal.
This Final Project includes the layout design for navigation channel and turning basin in Kalibaru Terminal, the calculation of dredging volume estimation, the type and the number of dredging ships needed, the calculation of work duration with the ship’s working schedule, and also the cost estimation for dredging work. It is found that the depth of Kalibaru navigation channel is -16,5 mLWS, with 310-metre width, a bend with 322-metre width, and also with a 9o slopes. Meanwhile for Kalibaru turning basin, it has -16,5 mLWS depth and 800-metre diameter. The total of Kalibaru Terminal dredging volume is 8.552.958,57 m3 which will be covered by a CSD ship and two TSHD ships for a 10-month duration. The total of the dredging cost is roughly 955,7 billion Rupiahs, with the total cost of the dredging work per package is Rp112.000,00 per cubic metres. |
