Description
Summary:Technological advances in the textile industry have created various textile innovations, one of which is the production of synthetic textiles which are considered to be faster and cheaper to produce. In fact, this condition causes environmental problems due to the uneasy decomposition of synthetic-based textiles. Natural-based textiles are able to decompose and can be a solution, one of which can be obtained from chitosan. Chitosan is a polymer with biodegradable properties obtained from chitin compounds in crab shells. The research focuses on processing chitosan into alternative textiles by conducting experiments that utilize bioplastic processing techniques, namely solution casting. The material can be developed by exploring textile designs such as moulding, draping, and interlocking modular. The process of chitosan into sheets becomes an alternative in producing textile sheets as well as innovations in fashion accessories.
