INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TIME-SPACE PRISM AND MOBILITY BIOGRAPHY VARIABLES ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION USE IN BANDUNG METROPOLITAN AREA

Travel behavior research aims to understand how the decisions of a trip, such as: the mode of transportation used, who uses it, which route to take, and so on. Travel decisions are an effect of the complex interdependence between planned, scheduled and implemented activities, then between activities...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/68707 Travel behavior research aims to understand how the decisions of a trip, such as: the mode of transportation used, who uses it, which route to take, and so on. Travel decisions are an effect of the complex interdependence between planned, scheduled and implemented activities, then between activities and the trip itself, as well as the possible locations of activities around individuals that can be accessed, and all forms of regulation or rules that apply. When the development of the public transport system does not match the mobility needs of individuals, personalized transport of any kind will dominate the movement. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the methodology for carrying out people's travel-activity behavior in meeting their needs and desires. Therefore, in this study, the focus is on integrating variables from time-space prism and mobility biography to the use of public transportation in the Bandung Metropolitan Area. This research can also provide input or recommendations to policy makers that the use of public transportation can be influenced by travel-based analysis such as mobility biographies. By using multiple linear regression analysis contained in the SPSS software program, it is intended to test the effect of two or more independent variables on one dependent variable, namely the percentage of public transportation use. The interpretation of the resulting regression model shows that the time-space prism and mobility biography variables have a significant effect on the hypothesis. Their behavior in the past few years affects their current behavior, especially in the choice of transportation modes. Their daily activities encourage them how to choose modes. The percentage of use of public transportation tends to decrease every year, this is possible in developing countries that public transportation services are still poor. text
