Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

For the next decades oil remains as the main energy source in Indonesia. There are many ways to transmit oil but until now pipeline network is considered as the most efficient transportation. The cost required to build oil pipeline network as well as to transport the oil is very costly. Here the fluid being considered is multiphase, which simulates the type of flow in many oil fields in Indonesia. The total cost that is considered in this final project consists of operational cost and investment cost. The operational cost includes electricity cost for operating the pump and maintenances cost the pipe. The investment cost consists of pipe purchasing, pump installation and pump costs. The problem is reduced to minimizing the total cost function, taking into account physical constraint and variation of input parameters. Here in this final project the constrained optimization problem is solved using genetic algorithm method, with respect to the existing diameters available in the market.
