STUDY OF WAVE ATTENUATION IN CONSEQUENCES TO PILE STRUCTURE USING NUMERICAL MODEL

This research will explore the study of wave attenuation with a pile type breakwater. The purpose of this study is to examine the phenomenon of wave reflection and transmission when passing through the breakwater structure and when the breakwater parameters are varied. Using the SWASH model, the...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/68790 This research will explore the study of wave attenuation with a pile type breakwater. The purpose of this study is to examine the phenomenon of wave reflection and transmission when passing through the breakwater structure and when the breakwater parameters are varied. Using the SWASH model, the data used are wave data obtained from laboratory experiments at the Coastal Research and Development Center, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The processing results show that the model validation for the scenario when there is no breakwater has an error percentage of 15.38% while the scenario when there is a breakwater has an error percentage of 15.52%. The comparison of pile test scenarios before and after filtering resulted in a decrease in the percentage of error in the comparison of probes and an increase in the percentage of error in the comparison of coefficients. The scenario by varying the layer resulted in a decrease in the reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient while an increase in the dissipation coefficient. While the enlargement of the diameter resulted in an increase both in the reflection coefficients, transmission coefficients, and dissipation coefficients. However, the diameter enlargement has a smaller effect rather than the addition of a layer which has the greatest effect in reducing wave energy as the dissipation coefficient is 0.0408 – 0.2202. text
