Description
Summary:iPusnas is an online digital library application pioneered by Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia (PNRI) as a a part of strategic initiative to improve public’s interest in reading as stated in Dokumen Rencana Strategis PNRI 2020-2024. The rating of iPusnas in Playstore is 3.9/5 per June 2022 was considered less satisfying for the stakeholders as there were 23% reviews in Playstore capturing usability issues from users. This has been perpetuated since the stakeholders of iPusnas has not conducted systematic research in user experience. Thus, the usability problem of this application has not been well-addressed. Hence, further research to improve iPusnas user interface through prototyping is needed using the Usability Evaluation and using the parameter of effectivity, efficiency, and user satisfaction. This research method is Usability Testing and Usability Inquiry. Quantitative and qualitative data is gathered through Performance Measurement Test and Retrospective Think Aloud respectively. Also, SUS questionnaire is used to measure user satisfaction. This research incorporates nine users chosen by simple random technique. The result if this research shows that participants have relatively low success rate in featuring book using Wishlist feature and identifying where the returned books are stored. It also discovers that this app has poor performance in terms of efficiency while page transition and searching for keywords in eReader are being used. The result of user satisfaction from SUS questionnaire is categorized into “Marginally Acceptable” criteria, thus also indicating that improvement is still needed. The proposed user interface (UI) is arranged with priortizing tasks with poor results and the solution is arranged from usability issues with the highest frequency to the lowest one. The proposed UI has covered all of the usability issues with two of the solutions; adding the Search and Highlight of words feature in eReader are evaluated as not feasible. This statement has been validated by the problem owner of this research.
