Summary:The protected forest area of Mount Mandalawangi is one of the locations for receiving the Social Forestry Forest Utilization Permit. This IPHPS has an area of ±28.04 Ha which was given to 26 heads of families. The institutional system in IPHPS is considered weak, so efforts are needed to strengthen institutions through the IAD Framework Ostrom. This study discusses the attributes of the community in the form of socio-economic conditions and also the rules that apply in the management of social forestry. The assessment on the social characteristics of KTH Cikancung members is dominated by male members, having a productive age, the last education level is elementary school or not yet finished elementary school, arable land area is between 0.5 to 1 hectare, family dependents are less than 4, and the level of welfare is adequate. The economic characteristic of KTH Cikancung members is that they have high income inequality. The assessment on the characteristics of the position rules is considered sufficient, the membership rules are considered sufficient, the action authority rules are considered poor, the aggregation rules are considered poor, the information rules are considered sufficient, the scope rules are considered poor, and the cost benefit rules are considered poor.
