Description
Summary:The Detail Part Manufacturing Division at PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is the division responsible for ensuring various aircraft parts can be produced according to the designed production schedule. To meet these needs, production machines with a high availability level are needed to reduce downtime. To achieve this, maintenance activities on production machines are required. Currently, the preventive maintenance (PM) policy applied every 2000 and 4000 hours. In this study, the production machine that became the object of research was Jobs' machine, one of the critical machines at PTDI. One of the considerations is that Jobs' machine has the highest frequency of failures during 2021, which is 51 failures. The availability level of Jobs machines has also not met the set target of 95%. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate and optimize the existing maintenance policy for Jobs machines at PTDI. The initial evaluation is reliability modeling using failure data with the MIL-HDBK-189 test and the Crow model. The evaluation results show that Jobs' machine failure rate during the combined period of 2020 and 2021 has a non-homogenous Poisson Process (NHPP) pattern with a value of ????=2.1270 which indicates an increasing failure rate (IFR). This means that the machine has entered a wear-out period or the end of its useful life. Furthermore, optimization is carried out using a periodic maintenance policy with an infinite time horizon to determine the optimal PM time interval using Mathcad software. The results of the study indicate that every 1540 hours is the ideal PM time interval for Jobs' machine. The expected costs per unit of time can be decreased by about 3.76% with this solution, from Rp24,470.00 to Rp23,550.00. Additionally, the solution can raise availability from 92.038% to 99.999995% by about 7.962%.
