As one of the production facilities, machines are required to have high availability so that the production process runs properly and customer orders can be fulfilled on time. Therefore, maintenance activities are needed so that the machine has good performance with high availability. Currently, maintenance activities are carried out for periods of 2000 and 4000 hours. This policy applies to all machines, including the CMS machine. It is a single-unit machine that is used to produce aircraft parts out of sheet metal material. If this machine fails, the production process will be stopped because no one can perform its function. Currently, maintenance engineering assesses that the performance of the CMS machine needs to be evaluated because there is an increase in the frequency of failure and downtime, high maintenance costs, and a decrease in the availability of 3.24% from 98.58% in 2020 to 95.34% in 2021. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate and optimize the maintenance policy to reduce maintenance costs and increase the availability of the CMS machine. Before optimizing, the CMS machine's reliability is modeled using the crow model. The machine's reliability is represented by a failure rate function with approximate parameter values of ????=1.0378 and ????=0.0024. Based on the failure rate function plot, it is known that CMS machines have an increasing failure rate (IFR), indicating that the machine deteriorates due to aging as the machine's service life grows. The periodic maintenance policy model is used for optimization, in which preventive maintenance activities (PM) are performed periodically. The result shows that the optimal solution for the CMS machine PM interval is T=1673 hours, with an estimated cost per hour J(T)=Rp 20,768.00 and availability of 99.96%. This policy can reduce the expected cost per hour by 0.1% and increase availability by 2.30%. text
