Sengon and bamboo processing produced unutilized wastes, such as particles. Whereas, those wastes could be utilized as a material for particleboard. One of factors that affected the particleboard quality is pressing time. This research was conducted to obtain the characteristics of sengon wood and wulung bamboo particleboards bonded by urea formaldehyde based on pressing time. The process of making particleboards was carried out by using different pressing time (5, 10, and 15 minutes), compressed at the temperature of 130ºC, and 2 MPa pressure. Particleboards were made using 15% (w/w) urea-formaldehyde. Parameter observed were physical properties (moisture content, density, water absorption, thickness swelling) and mechanical properties (MOR, MOE, internal bond, screw holding power) in accordance with JIS A 5908:2003. The design used in this research was Completely Randomized Design with Duncan’s further test. Result showed that particle board from this research has value of 5,26% – 10,18% moisture content, 0,49 g/cm3 – 0,6 g/cm3 density, 53% – 113,47% water absorption, 9,15% – 16,9% thickness swelling, 28,54 kg/cm2 – 105,25 kg/cm2 MOR, 2520,87 kg/cm2 – 35689,85 kg/cm2 MOE, 0,57 kg/cm2 – 8,72 kg/cm2 internal bond, and 21,47 kg – 46,4 kg screw holding power. Particleboard with 100% wulung bamboo composition and 15 minutes of pressing time fulfilled all of physical and mechanical parameters of JIS A 5908:2003 standard. text |

Sengon wood and wulung bamboo are alternatives to substitute the natural forest
wood material. Sengon and bamboo processing produced unutilized wastes, such
as particles. Whereas, those wastes could be utilized as a material for
