In 2016, Indonesia along with 170 other countries signed the Paris Agreement on Climate Change with a focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mitigation and adaptation. PT X (Ltd) is one of the companies engaged in oil and gas exploration and production in Indonesia. In its mission, PT X (Ltd) stated that oil and gas discovery, development, and production activities are carried out in safe and environmentally friendly operations. Action that can be taken to fulfill the mission and support Indonesia to achieve the Paris Agreement targets is to conduct an inventory of GHG emissions. In this study, PT X (Ltd)'s GHG emission inventory is carried out for Field Y where the natural gas exploration and production take place. The inventory focuses on calculating the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrogen oxides (N2O) from three different source categories. Generally, the sources of GHG emissions in the oil and gas industry consist of combustion sources, process emission and vented sources, and fugitive sources. The inventory methodology refers to the American Petroleum Institute (API) Compendium 2009. The activity data used are secondary data from PT X (Ltd) and assumption based on global references. The emission factor used refers to several references from the API, United State Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), and others. The results of the inventory are CO2, CH4, and N2O emissions from each category of emission sources in January-June 2021. It was found that the largest GHG generated by exploration and production of natural gas in Field Y is CO2 with the majority coming from the combustion sources, followed by CH4, and the least is N2O. Mitigation that can be done is the application of an automatic air/fuel ratio system for gas machine of compressor and utilization of flare gas until zero routine flaring (ZRF) is achieved.
