Description
Summary:Coal is an alternative energy that has many benefits in human life. The quality of coal determines the selling price and utilization. One of the parameters in determining coal quality is the total sulfur content in the coal sample. The Central Laboratory for Mineral, Coal and Geothermal Resources (LPSDMBP) is one of the testing laboratories for coal analysis. The laboratory already has a manual total sulfur analysis instrument using the combustion method and titration using a Total Sulfur Furnace (Furnace ST) instrument that has been accredited ISO 17025:2017. LPSDMBP also has a digital total sulfur analysis instrument LECO SC632 Carbon and Sulfur Determinator which is able to analyze quickly and precise. Measurement with the LECO SC632 instrument is planned to be accredited to ISO 17025:2017. This research was conducted to prepare for the accreditation of the analytical method. In this study, the manufacture of SOP, verification of the method in which there are precision and accuracy parameters, as well as determining the uncertainty of measurement of sulfur content analysis. For method verification, analysis of sulfur content using the LECO SC632 instrument gives results that have good precision with an RSD value of 1.29 % with an accuracy of 99.92%. The limit of % recovery allowed for the analyte concentration in the sample with a size of 1% is between 97 - 103%. Determination of the uncertainty of sulfur analysis with the LECO SC632 instrument gave a result of 0.04%, which is the value obtained is smaller than the repeatability value in ASTM D4239-18, which is 0.08%. The existing data shows that the method used is reliable and meets the requirements of method verification.
