There are numerous measures being taken to reduce CO2 emissions in the cement industry, including the use of third materials, partial fuel substitution with non-carbon or renewable fuels, and increased equipment efficiency. Carbon capture, or the capture of CO2 in the exhaust gas flow, is another method for reducing CO2 emissions. CaO-based calcium looping technique, which is a cement raw material, is one of the technologies utilized for this carbon capture. This technology makes use of reversible carbonation and calcination reactions. This research proposes an evaluation of previous research's resulting calcination is Ca(OH)2 and do hydrate reaction for increasing the capacity of the adsorbent. The research began with calcination experiments like the previous research under three different hypotheses: low pressure, air trapped in the test equipment system, and the influence of sample storage time. After that, the tool is modified to enable hydration reactions, and three different carbonation reactions are then performed. The results of the experimental sample analysis were then characterised using XRD and SEM&EDS techniques. Evaluation of previous research indicates that only one hypothesis was accepted. Ca(OH)2 was produced during the experiment as a result of natural hydration brought on by the lengthy post-calcination sample storage. A hydration reaction can be performed utilizing a modified test equipment system, either by injecting water vapor onto the carbonator or by using a hydrator. The outcome of CaO carbonation with and without hydration, as well as Ca(OH)2, were then compared. Compared to non-hydrated samples, limestone produced by a carbonation reaction through hydration samples has a higher capacity for absorption. Limestone from Padang has a higher absorption value with a value of 0.39 gCO2/gCaO, while limestone from Cilacap has a value of 0.32gCO2/gCaO compared to the ability to absorb CaO without hydration. text
