Summary: | Dumai City is a city located in the province of Riau, Sumatra Island. The city of Dumai is located
in a strategic position, because it is located adjacent to the Malacca Strait which is one of the most
important shipping lanes in the world. The various potentials possessed by the City of Dumai such
as agriculture, trade, industry, etc. make Dumai City play an important role in serving exports and
imports. To meet these needs, the Dumai City Multipurpose Port will be designed which will
become a companion port for the existing ports in the vicinity. This port can serve ships up to a
capacity of 50000 DWT. This final project will discuss port design in the field of water expertise
including hydro-oceanographic data processing and waterside port facility design. Hydrooceanographic
data processing includes wind, tidal, and wave data processing. Wind data is
processed and classified based on wind speed and direction to obtain wind roses. Then the wind
data will be reprocessed to get the wave height and period using the wave forecasting method
(hindcasting). The magnitude of the wave height obtained will then be analyzed for distribution to
obtain the design wave height. Tidal data is processed using the least square method and the
results will be used in calculating the elevation and depth of the port facility. Port facilities that
will be planned include docks, shipping lanes, harbor pools, and breakwaters. The aspects of the
docks that will be planned are the length, width, depth, and elevation of the dock deck that can
serve ships with a capacity of 50000 DWT. Aspects of the shipping lanes that will be planned are
the width, depth, and alignment of the shipping lanes. The aspects of the port pool that will be
planned are the radius of the rotary pool and the depth of the harbor pool. The breakwater is
planned to use a mixed type consisting of caisson as the upright building and piles of stone as an
additional foundation. The dimensions of the breakwater will be calculated including peak
elevation, width, depth, and side slope of the rock pile. |
