INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/69010 Now, energy becomes a very important needs. Indonesia energy need continues to increase from year to year. The fulfillment of energy needs is still dominated by fossil fuels which are less environmentally friendly. Wind energy can be an alternative energy source that is more environmentally friendly. This energy source has not been widely implemented in Indonesia, while it has a potential of 60.6 GW. One of the obstacles to the implementation of the use of wind energy is the large investment and relatively low wind speed in Indonesia. The Darrieus-Savonius combination wind turbine is a turbine consisting of a vertical rotor of the Darrieus and Savonius axes on the same axis. This vertical turbine combination aims to improve the kinerjance of the turbine at Low TSR. This study aims to analyze the kinerjance and self-starting capability of the combination turbine with various radius ratios. Savonius rotors with radius ratios of 0.25 and 0.33 are placed on the inside of the Darrieus rotor. The simulation will be carried out using the ANSYS Fluent software. The simulation results show that the addition of a Savonius rotor can increase the CP and also the self-starting ability when compared to a single Darrieus rotor. The combination rotor with a radius ratio of 0.33 resulted in a 308% increase in CP and a combined rotor with a radius ratio of 0.25 resulted in a 232% increase in CP at a TSR of one, when compared to a single rotor Darrieus. The same results were also obtained in the self-start capability test, Both combinations of the rotor produced a positive static torque for all tested azimuth angles. Meanwhile, the single Darrieus rotor produces negative values at two azimuth angles. text
