Summary: | The Multipurpose Port of Dumai City is a port located in Riau Province, precisely
in Dumai City and adjacent to the Main Port of Dumai City, so that this port is
expected to be a companion and buffer for the main port. A port requires the design
of water resources aspects such as seaside facilities, reclamation protection, and
consideration of other facilities in accommodating the port in the service of ships
for loading and unloading of commodity goods. The design of seaside facilities is
carried out to ensure that ships can moor safely against waves and tides at the pier.
The reclamation shield must also be designed to protect the reclaimed land from
wave heights and runup on the coast. The designed seaside facilities are dock
orientation, shipping lanes, harbor pool, rotary pool, and pier elevation. Natural
conditions that are considered to affect these things are wind, ocean waves,
currents, tides, rainfall and bathymetry. The dimensions of the planned ship are
also considered for the design of shipping lanes. The elevation of the reclamation
shield takes into account the height of the breaking waves on the beach, the runup
of the waves, and the tidal range. The design of the embankment protection building
is carried out in the causeway area bordering the water. The design of this
protective building is also modeled using MIKE21 to analyze the actual condition
of the waves that occur at the planned port. From the results of this design, an
estimation of the construction costs of the water sector is also carried out, namely
the construction of embankment and coastal protection.
