Summary: | Public market is a place where buying and selling activities take place through
the bargaining process and is one of the contributors in urban economy. However, most
of public markets are still in a poorly organized condition and have not been supported
by market facilities in quantity and quality, potentially causing a decrease in people's
interest to shop at the public market. Pasar Baru Bekasi area, which is one of public
markets in Bekasi City, has problems such as lack of accessibi lity, lack of market
supporting facilities, no clear division between trading spaces and the rampant use of
roads as a place to trade, lack of rainwater absorption areas which during the rainy
season cause inundation, as well as market activities that caus e negative externalities
such as congestion and illegal parking, caused a chaotic and shabby impression of
Pasar Baru Bekasi area.
From the condition of the Pasar Baru Bekasi area, one alternative to minimize
problems in the Pasar Baru Bekasi area is to redesign it to overcome existing design
problems, in order to achieve its function as an opti mal means of trade and services.
The redesign of the Pasar Baru Bekasi area uses fragmental methods and problem
solving techniques, taking into account the physical condition of the area, public
perceptions and preferences, as well as regulations/literature related to the ideal
people's market as the basis for redesigning the Bekasi New Market area. Therefore,
an inclusive and integrated policy of designing the Pasar Baru Bekasi area, through
the provision of trading rooms that are interconnected with other activities, improving
road accessibility, providing green open space as public spaces, and fulfilling other
supporting facilities, can realize the Pasar Baru Bekasi area that pays attention to
safety, accessibility, health, hygiene, security, comfort, and aesthetics |
