Summary: | This paper examines the floor plan and furniture layout of owned flats unit of Perumnas
Rusunami Bandar Kemayoran (RBK) A4, Jakarta by seeing the phenomenon of
apartmen in Japan (Danchi) whereby abandoned by the occupants due to space and
interior issues which developed into urban problems. This phenomenon might be
occurred at the apartment in Indonesia, since nowadays some units oftenly found
uninhabited or inhabited but in a slum condition. Comparation study of floor plan and
furniture’s layout of apartment are the main part which will be described in this paper.
The purpose of this study is to identify the correlation of floor plan design and
furniture’s layout of apartment with the function and occupants convenient as well as
to mitigate the occupants would neglect the unit as happened in Danchi, by collecting
information of the object, scattering questionnaire on preliminary study, conducting
deep interview for selected samples, and observing the selected samples. The selected
samples represent the situation of non-furniture’s layout at a beginning stage (newly
occupied unit) with the unit occupy by one occupant, two two occupants and 3-4 two
occupants (new/small family).
The research shows that the apartment doesn’t have ideal room type or room space for
small/new family and this situation leads to create a slum condition which influence
the convenience of the residential, where the two occupants will leave it as soon as they
experience an economic increment. This research recommends floor plan design and
furniture’s layour that suitable for an apartment unit. A further reseach for alternative
room organization/floor plan’s study is needed.
