Various kinds of visualization styles have been explored and applied to Indonesian animation. Moreover, with the better quality of animation in the world, it also indirectly encourages Indonesian animators to improvise and continue to develop creativity through their works. However, in the process of its development, the popularity of Japanese animation also brought a significant influence on the formation of Indonesian animated films. Since the first Battle of Surabaya animation was widely introduced to the public, various speculations have arisen regarding the Japanese visual adaptation process in it. Based on the first survey, it is known that the majority of respondents think that the visual appearance in animation is an aspect that makes them feel interested in watching an animated film. From this a question arises regarding the public's interest in Indonesian animation adapting the Japanese Visual Language. From these problems, the research was conducted to examine more deeply the effect of Japanese Visual Language adaptation in Indonesian animated films and their effect on viewing interest. The research was conducted using a visual case study on the Battle of Surabaya animation, which was supported by interviews, documents, literature studies, and questionnaires related to public interest. This research is expected to be a form of scientific dedication regarding Indonesian animation, as well as an evaluation material for Indonesian animators in exploring and considering the application of animated visual displays, and can be one of the foundations in the development of Indonesian animated films by knowing public interest. text
