For pesantren circles in seeking knowledge about activities, activities must be exclusive, but there is a social mission that is built. Knowledge without practice is like a tree that does not bear fruit, that is the adage held by the santri and the closest to practicing knowledge are the residents of the pesantren village where they gain knowledge. The establishment of the Karanggedang Islamic Boarding School has the aim of serving Islam, especially the manners of the surrounding community, which are notorious for being abangan and criminal. Hadroh is a favorite show for most of its citizens. In addition, they are very interested in wayang, but there is a ban on puppet performances in the village of Salebu, which applies to several areas in Cilacap which have panembahan sites related to the Padjajaran kingdom. Santri as social agents mediate the development of their village. Several learning methods have included the "kanca sinau" method which focuses on the selfunderstanding of a problem directly. To make it easy to understand, the students were given art and cultural materials that were applied, such as writing, painting, and other creative activities. Reading the pleasures of local residents who are interested in hadroh and wayang, in this exhibition "Bekti Dusun" is a medium for students to realize what they have learned. Practicing their knowledge with social agents, reading issues that exist in the surrounding environment, and visualizing them through wayang and accompanied by songs containing moral messages. Pesantren Karanggedang is trying well to play a special role in understanding the modernization of knowledge and arts and culture based on religious traditions, etiquette, and reduction of crime.
