Moreover, the jasmine essential oil is also reported to have various pharmacological activities including antioxidant. Due to its volatile characteristic, proneness to degradation, and low solubility in water, it is necessary to modify the jasmine essential oil delivery system to overcome aforementioned obstacles. This study aimed to deliver jasmine essential oil of Jasminum officinale L. in a Nanostructured Lipid Carriers (NLC) system using the emulsification-sonication method, followed by characterization and determination of its antioxidant potency with the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The best jasmine essential oil-loaded NLC formula was given by 6% total lipid consisting of beeswax, almond oil, jasmine essential oil (2:6:2) and 6% surfactant mix consisting of Tween 80 and propylene glycol (4:1). The produced particles were spherical with a size of 139,60 ± 19,82 nm, polydispersity index of 0,37 ± 0,05, and negatively charged with a zeta potential value of -21.60 ± 6.75 mV. The developed NLC system is suitable for delivering jasmine essential oil as it provided encapsulation efficiency of 97,65 ± 2,34 %. Observation of the NLC formula in storage condition for 28 days showed good stability with no significant difference in the parameters of particle size, polydispersity index, and encapsulation efficiency. The IC50 value given to 200 µg/mL DPPH solution was 655,83 ± 27,05 µg/mL, in line with the IC50 of free jasmine essential oil of 699,20 ± 30,90 µg/mL. text
