ISOLASI SENYAWA AKTIF PENGHAMBAT PERTUMBUHAN MIKROBA PENYEBAB FOLIKULITIS DARI EKSTRAK ETANOL BUAH MENGKUDU MORINDA CITRIFOLIA L.

Folliculitis is a skin disease caused by inflammation of the hair follicles. This disease is caused by a bacterial or fungal infection. Several medicinal plants in Indonesia can be used to treat this disease, one of which is the noni plant (Morinda citrifolia L.) belongs to Rubiaceae family. This...

This disease is caused by a bacterial or fungal infection. Several medicinal plants in Indonesia can be used to treat this disease, one of which is the noni plant (Morinda citrifolia L.) belongs to Rubiaceae family. This plant generally grows in the wild, but some are widely cultivated in Indonesia. Other benefits of this plant are that it contains an anti-inflammatory compound, able to prevent hypertension, and increasing immunity. This study aims to determine the compounds contained in noni fruit and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in inhibiting microbes that cause folliculitis. Sample was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Fractionation was carried out using a liquid-liquid extraction method with water, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate as solvents. Determination of activity through qualitative and quantitative testing includes disc diffusion test, TLC-bioautography test, and microdilution test. The fraction that had the best activity against Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans was continued by advanced fractination using vacuum liquid chromatography method. The fraction containing the target compound was selected for further purification using preparative TLC. Isolate S2 has a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1 mg/mL against Cutibacterium acnes and 0,25 mg/mL against Candida albicans. Isolate S2 from the ethyl acetate fraction which may be an antimicrobial which is a scopoletin compound. text
