Description
Summary:Decentralized waste processing is one of the options made to reduce the problem of waste pollution to the environment. This study intends to determine the contribution of the use of modular pyrolysis machines in the processing of plastic waste in rural areas in waste management and economy. The study sites were conducted in Pacung, Wanagiri, and Punggul villages as villages that have used pyrolysis machines, located in Bali Province. The method used in this study is a cost benefit analysis method carried out in the scope of village waste management. The cost value analyzed is divided into two, namely economic costs, emission pollution risks and social costs, and benefit values consisting of the benefits of reducing emissions and transporting waste to landfill, utilization of processed products, waste management levies, and increasing social awareness. Data collection was carried out by observation and direct interviews with several affected parties. The value of benefits and costs is then analyzed using the Net Present Value (NPV) and Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) methods to see the feasibility of the activity economically. Cost benefit analysis was carried out against its own modular pyrolysis machine and village waste management. The machine studied in this study has a size of 100 cm x 90 cm x 60 cm with a plastic waste processing capacity of 5 Kg within 3-4 hours. In this study, it was found that the evaluation of the use of this modular pyrolysis machine was an operational cost that was higher than the benefits obtained, so that plastic waste processors had to incur additional costs for operational costs. The value of operational costs for processing 5 kg of plastic waste is Rp. 20,000 plus officer wages, and the value of the product benefits obtained is Rp. 18,000. The operational cost of the pyrolysis machine in one year is 4 – 12% of the operational cost of the TPS, depending on how much plastic waste is treated with the pyrolysis machine
