There have been many studies showing that marine endophytic fungi have activity against various infectious diseases. This study aimed to isolate endophytic fungi from seagrass and determine their antimicrobial activity. The research included sampling, isolation and purification of endophytic fungi, identification of endophytic fungi, fermentation, extraction of secondary metabolites, and determination of antimycobacterial and antifungal activities. The method used to test the antimycobacterial activity is the MTT assay with Mycobacterium smegmatis, while the antifungal activity test uses disc diffusion and microdilution with Candida albicans. There are 5 isolates of fungi isolated and from each isolate are obtained media and mycelium extracts. The antimicrobial activity test presents that 2 extracts have antimycobacterial activity, media and mycelium extract of F-SPL3 with moderate antimycobacterial activity and bacteriostatic. In addition, 4 extracts have antifungal activity with strong antifungal activity found in the mycelium extract of F-SPL-3 which is fungicidal. text |
