Nickel is a raw material needed by many industries, such as stainless steel, batteries, alloys, and metal plating. Because it is needed for various industrial purposes, nickel is considered a strategic commodity. Based on this, the availability of nickel reserves in Indonesia is very important to support the sustainability of the industry. One of the companies that produce nickel is PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, where the company has one of the Mining Business License Areas in Southeast Sulawesi, especially in block M. In this study, an estimation of nickel reserves in Block M was carried out by considering several modifying factors. In addition, the economic optimization of Block M nickel reserves was carried out by conducting sensitivity analysis on several scenarios of mining age which will affect the parameters of commodity selling prices and changes in operating costs. The research was conducted using the literature study method and processing secondary data from PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. The modifying factors used to convert resources into reserves are mining factors (pit optimization, pit design, and mine scheduling) and economics (economic feasibility). After receiving the modifier factors modifying factors, the Block M nickel reserves are technically and economically feasible to mine, which are estimated at 0.335 million wmt with a Ni grade of 1.77%. In addition, based on the results of economic analysis, optimizing the economy of Block M reserves, it can be done by increasing production targets. text |
