STUDY EFFICIENCY OF UTILIZATION NON HAZARDOUS WASTE (FLY ASH) TO BE PROCESSED INTO CEMENT CONCRETE BASED ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST AND FLEXURAL STENGTH TEST

The use of fly ash as a concrete-forming material has a positive impact from an environmental perspective. Fly ash is a very fine coal combustion residue. The fineness of the fly ash grains has the potential to cause air pollution. Handling fly ash at this time is still limited to stockpiling in...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/69376 The use of fly ash as a concrete-forming material has a positive impact from an environmental perspective. Fly ash is a very fine coal combustion residue. The fineness of the fly ash grains has the potential to cause air pollution. Handling fly ash at this time is still limited to stockpiling in vacant land. In this study, we will identify the benefits of fly ash as a substitute for cement in concrete. Identification of fly ash material focuses on the effect of using this material on the compressive strength of concrete, especially at the beginning of the concrete life. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding fly ash as a normal concrete added to the mechanical properties which will be reviewed from the compressive strength and flexural strength. In this study, the percentage of fly ash variation is 0%, 15%, 20%, 25% of the cement weight and will be tested with an age of 7-28 days of testing. This study tested 2 different objects, namely cylindrical specimens and beam specimens with each variation of the presentation of a different fly ash mixture. With an increase in fly ash , the lower slump value will be produced by this study. The addition of fly ash to a normal quality concrete mixture can increase the compressive strength and flexibility compared to normal concrete without fly ash (0%). This increase has higher flexural and compressive strength than normal concrete. text
