Description
Summary:Sabu Island in East Nusa Tenggara Province is the area in Indonesia with the highest average sky clearness, so the probability of successful observations there is also quite good. The purpose of this study was to investigate and map light pollution conditions on Sabu Island and determine the most ideal location for the development of astrotourism potential on Sabu Island. The research method is descriptive-analytic. Data was collected using observation and documentation studies. The data is taken from the Light Pollution Map website and the earth irradiance image is obtained from the VIIRS-DNB data source. The data that has been sorted is then made into a map of the distribution of light pollution on Sabu Island. Elevation data was measured using the Global Positioning System (GPS). For collecting in situ data, the brightness of the night sky is measured using a Sky Quality Meter (SQM). The results showed that the light pollution conditions of Sabu Island could be categorized as good and comfortable for astrotourism activities and a location for developing astrotourism.
