Description
Summary:Currently, almost all electric steam power plants in Indonesia still use low quality coal as fuel. Low quality coal has a low calorific value, while the performance of a power plant depends on the calorific value of the fuel. The calorific value of a coal can be increased by applying various technologies to improve the quality of coal. In general, coal quality improvement technology increases the calorific value by reducing the water content in coal. This study aims to see how much benefit improving the quality of coal with various technologies has on the performance of the power plant. The method used is to compare the performance of the power plant when using coal before it is engineered with coal that has been upgraded using technologies. At the end of the undergraduate thesis, it will be seen that this quality improvement process can reduce the consumption of low quality coal by up to a dozen tons per hour.
