Description
Summary:The Lembang fault is an active fault of about 12 km from north of Bandung region. The existence of the Lembang fault provide a potential seismic hazard in the Bandung and surrounding area. Based on earthquake katalog, there was an earthquake occurred in 2011 which affected several residential buildings in Cisarua District, Lembang. The potential seismic hazard is influenced by the condition of the subsurface layer as a medium for transmitting earthquake waves. The condition of the subsurface layer can be determined using a geophysical method approach, such as the Horizontal to Spectral Ratio (HVSR) method. Commonly, the HVSR curve estimation uses the Fourier Transform principle to obtain the frequency spectrum for calculating the spectral ratio of the horizontal and vertical components. A combination of sinusoidal and stationary base signals can be used, but this transformation still has limitations. And it would be difficult to remove local noise in microtremor recordings. We propose to apply Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) to obtain the HVSR curve. We compare the HVSR curve of the Fourier Transform and the Hilbert Huang Transform at dominant frequency in the range 0.1-8Hz and relatively low. We can interpret as the higher potential of seismic hazard around West Bandung Regency, precisely around the Lembang fault. On the other hand, the high amplification factor which is area indicates that there is a significant potential for earthquake hazard can be identified in Parongpong, Cisarua and Ngamprah. Based on the value of Vs30 obtained between 32.6 m/s – 186.7 m/s, it can be concluded that the subsurface rock layers in the study area are dominated by soft layers and has high seismic hazard potential.earthquake hazard potential.
