Transformation of land use arrangement is very affecting at degradation of the forest function because forest is the one of ecosystem component which functions as supporter area below and can influences the change of flood discharge and land erosion in the catchment area. Transfer of forest area function becomes cultivation area, settlement and industry can make the change of flood discharge and the height of erosion level which could happened at land. Miu Watershed with 189.25 square kilometers located in the upstream of Palu Watershed Central Celebes Province. From the existing space is about 140.24 km2 or approximately 74 percent from overall of the watershed space consisted of forest and the rest <br />

around 26 percent consisted of thicket, grassland and settlement. Rational Method is applied to analyze the impact of forest function transformation toward flood discharge with discharge routing is calculated by using Kinematic Wave Method, whereas to analyze the transformation of erosion is calculated according to USLE (Universal of Soil Loss Equation) method. <br />

From the result of simulation of area and situation of forest could be known that the transformation of forest area percentage affects to the change of discharge and <br />

very influences toward land erosion speed where happens a significant transformation toward soil loss speed from existing condition around 05 mm/year (6.27 ton/ha/year) becomes 6.8 mm/year (81.12 ton/ha/year) with very high <br />

able to give recommendation of the forest area function replacement in order to keep the watershed quality always in well condition. |
