Summary: | Coal is one of the primary energy commodities in Indonesia. With the development of coal mining activities, the environmental impacts caused will be more numerous and spread throughout the country. One of the environmental impacts of mining activities is the emergence of acid mine drainage and mining pit lakes, which if not managed properly will pose a danger to the surrounding community. This research in detail aims to develop an integrated and integrated model of acid mine drainage for mine closure area, so as to produce output water in accordance with applicable environmental quality standards. The critical sub-catchment area to be repaired is determined based on the volume of surface runoff water that has a certain pH load. Based on the results of the output water quality modeling, it was found that the management of acid mine drainage with revegetation and land use as well as the installation of treatment infrastructure carried out in the specified period will result in a significant increase in the quality of the output water from North ON2 to the Lati River. Land use management is carried out in the form of improving in pit dumps and mine drainage so that it will have an impact on reducing peak runoff discharge to below 0.26 m3/second, which has implications for the performance of the passive treatment to be installed. By reducing the runoff discharge, the pH of surface runoff water can increase to 6.8 and is able to improve water quality in the ON2 post-mining pit lake. Improving the quality of surface runoff water on disturbed land takes a long time to reach environmental quality standards, especially the pH parameter, which is between 20 – 25 years. This causes the need for a final acid mine water management infrastructure as a buffer treatment for the quality of water leaving the Lati river. |
