Description
Summary:The research was conducted in the Tarakan Basin area. The Tarakan Basin is a basin where hydrocarbons have been found. This study aims to determine the hydrocarbon prospect zone, and its relation to the deposition process using seismic attributes and acoustic impedance inversion. The research area is located in the Tarakan Formation which is a deltaic deposit of late Miocene to late Pliocene age with sediment sources originating from the Kuching Highlands in the west. Based on the AI inversion analysis, and the prospect zone are delta front sandstones from the delta depositional system. The traps of the prospect zone are normal faults and lateral facies changes. The reservoir quality in the northern part of the study area is better than in the southern part due to the depositional sources in the Tarakan formation coming from the Kuching highlands and erosion from the older formations, where older rocks have better quality in the northern part than in the southern part. The play of the research area is delta fault play. .
