ANALYSIS OF LAND CAPABILITIES FOR POTENTIAL FORAGE AREAS OF JAVANESE DEER FEED (RUSA TIMORENSIS DE BLAINVILLE, 1882) IN THE BURU MASIGIT KAREUMBI GAME RESERVE

Taman Buru Masigit Kareumbi (TBMK) has several land cover that has the potential to become a suitable habitat for Javanese deer (Rusa timorensis) as a game animal. Land area, land use and land capability in an area greatly affect the potential availability of forage feed that grows on it. Some open...

Land area, land use and land capability in an area greatly affect the potential availability of forage feed that grows on it. Some open areas in the TBMK area have the potential to be developed into deer feed forage areas, but it is necessary to consider the ability of the land to support the availability of javanese deer feed forage. This study aims to determine the class of land capability and characterize the physical soil in Cluster V, TBMK which is part of the Java deer release area. The methods used in this study are spatial analysis to determine land unit maps, direct observation in the field and laboratory tests to analyze and measure primary data and data analysis using scoring. The results of the analysis show that the bush area in Cluster V has land capability classes III and IV which have the potential to be used as feed forage areas, although there are some obstacles that need to be considered. However, land capability class III has more potential to be used as a forage area, including as a managed pasture with conservation methods in the form of vegetative methods that will enrich feed crops and minimize existing obstacles. In addition, Cluster V has soil physical characteristics in the form of soil type, soil texture, drainage, permeability, soil depth, marble level, pH value and soil temperature that can support the growth of other deer feed plants. text
