Description
Summary:Along with the changes in characteristics of human needs that inevitably become diverse and different, stimulating the industry to make a change in their production activities in order to maintain production efficiency. Recently, the production activities were encouraged to become more flexible, or in other words, be able to swiftly respond to any changes emerged. Nonetheless, not all production systems were flexible. Job production system is considered as a production system that has exceptional level of flexibility. Flexibility in a job production system can be achieved by utilizing equipment that can respond to a variety of shapes and high level of accuracy, in which can be achieved by using machine tools. One of the machine tools that has the abilities to producing a product with flexibility in shapes, geometry, precisions, accuracies, and easiness in operations to support job production is lathe machines. However, the lathe machines currently used in job production were conventional. Therefore, conventional lathe machines must be equipped with capabilities to swiftly adapt to any changes and be able to automatically determine the machining process. In this matter, automation in determining machining process can be achieved by particularly improving process planning in production information element. Process planning will become the bridge to link up initial planning phase with manufacturing process phase, therefore automated process planning will assist production elements to quickly adapt to the rapidly change circumstances. Autonomous Distribution Manufacturing System (ADiMS) was introduced by providing autonomy, distribution, and communication capabilities to the elements involved in production. The application of ADiMS will be applied to assist job production system to determine the lathe machining process sequence based on machining features in conventional lathe machines. In this research, the implementation of ADiMS will generate a system that can automatically determine lathe machining process sequence that is developed using object-oriented modelling and will be visualized through a web-based application
