TRACTION ANALYSIS OF SOCCER SHOE STUDS FOR 90-DEGREE CUTTING MOVEMENT

Cutting movement is one of the main movements in regularly performed by soccer players. It is evident that cutting movement is pivotal aspect to the player’s performance and one of the main aspects that affects these movements is traction. The FMAE ITB Biomechanics Research Team have developed a mov...

It is evident that cutting movement is pivotal aspect to the player’s performance and one of the main aspects that affects these movements is traction. The FMAE ITB Biomechanics Research Team have developed a movement analysis system for soccer players in which the system is used to oversee the affects soccer shoes have on the performance of soccer players. Performance of soccer players is essential in the advancement of soccer. The equipment that soccer players use is one the contributing factors to the performance. Soccer shoes, as an example, is one of the equipment used by soccer players that directly affects the performance. Performance of the sports includes the running movement kinematics and the traction between shoe and ground surface. Traction has a significant role in defining the performance of a soccer player. The purpose of the current research is to analyse the traction performance between different soccer shoes with different studs in a 90-degree cutting movement. The method used for this research refers back to past experiments conduct on soccer shoes. This research uses force plate system to capture the traction data of the test. For further analysis, this research uses hypothesis testing to prove the research results from the test done by 7 subjects objectively. The result of this research provides possible indications that artificial grass (AG) shoe has better performance than firm ground (FG) shoe though statistically not significant. It also may give insights on what soccer shoes to wear for a soccer player. Furthermore, the results from this research brings future potential development for FMAE ITB Biomechanics Lab. text
