EVALUATION OF PULL-OUT RESISTANCE IN 3D FIBER GLASS-POLYESTER SANDWICH COMPOSITE MECHANICAL JOINTS WITH ADDITION OF POLYURETHANE FOAM
The use of glass fiber-polyester 3D sandwich woven composites requires a mechanical splicing process that can be subjected to pull-out loading. In this study, the effect of the addition of polyurethane foam and the use of inserts was studied on the pull-out resistance of 3D woven sandwich composites. The variety of sandwich composites consists of sandwich composites with and without polyurethane foam. The joining method consists of inserting and without inserting. For sandwich composites with foam, two installation methods were studied, namely inserting the insert after adding polyurethane foam and installing the insert before adding polyurethane foam. For 3D sandwich composites with joints without inserts, the addition of polyurethane foam increases the maximum load value by 111%. The use of inserts in 3D sandwich composites with or without polyurethane foam gives rise to a curve with two peaks, namely failure and maximum load. In sandwich composites with polyurethane foam, the installation of inserts after adding foam increases the failure load by 72% but decreases the maximum load by 23%. In sandwich composites with polyurethane foam, insertion before adding foam increases the failure load by 23% and increases the maximum load by 38%. text |
