By using case study methodolgy and qualitative approach through semi-structured interview, observation and document review. The data is collected then examined with thematic analysis. This research reveals that majority of Indonesian employees’ have a perspective that spirituality and religion are different concepts, but both of them are strongly related, and perspective that spirituality just a part of religion. When practice the spirituality concept in the workplace, there are two connection, Indonesian employees see their work has a connection with Super being (God) and connection with other being (individual level and organizational level of spirituality implementation). Majority companies implement spirituality in order to fulfill the needs of organization. Spirituality also has its own dark side to be awared. There are the risks, obstacles and challenges that occur as the result of incompatibility between employees’ and organization’s spirituality, and spirituality values do not fully integrated with company’s system, program and policy. If all of those risks, obstacles and challenges cannot be handled well, it will bring to disadvantage outcomes. On the other hand, if all of those risks, obstacles and challenges handled well and all stakeholder support spirituality implementation, it will bring to advantage outcomes. Strategy of intervention consist of lesson learn by employees and management to successfully implement spirituality in the workplace. The information of the current research provides a practical guidance that is very useful for practitioners about spirituality implementation and gives a potential insight to prepare a risk management system in order to anticipate and mitigate the dark sides of spirituality. It also gives a fruitful insight for theorist as their further research references in the area of spirituality implementation in the workplace. text |
