With an effective inventory management system, the laboratory can provide a high service level with less inventory investment. The molecular laboratory in the PNRL department has an inventory issue with low stock efficiency. The study utilized secondary data from January 2022 until July 2022. The data calculations and analysis were performed using an Excel spreadsheet. The root causes of this issue are poor inventory management and uneasiness about filling out the recording form. In order to solve the inventory management issue, the study compared the Q Model and P Model of the inventory management system with the current inventory system. The total number of inventories analyzed is 33, and 15 are included in the simulation of the Q Model. There are potential cost savings of around 1,2 billion Rupiahs and 681 million Rupiahs when using the Q Model and P Model, respectively. In the simulation of the Q Model, the company could reduce the purchase value by around 58-55%, the last inventory by around 70-76%, and the AIL value by around 42-47%. In addition, if the purchase value decreases consistently by 55% per month for four months, the SE of a molecular laboratory will exceed the company’s target of 70%. Besides improving the inventory management system, the laboratory should also improve the recording form by transforming it into a centralized system with user-friendly interfaces. Overall, the inventory management Q Model and transformation of the recording form are recommended for implementation in the molecular laboratory of the PNRL department. text |
