This certainly has an impact on the increase in demand for housing needs from millennials. However, in several big cities such as Bandung, limited land, high property prices and relatively low regional minimum wages (UMR) have made it difficult for Bandung millennials to buy houses according to their needs and abilities. Responding to this issue, this research aims to provide affordable housing solutions that still consider millennial preferences in Bandung City. The case study of this research will be conducted in Gedebage Sub-district, East Bandung. Gedebage is considered strategic because it is undergoing regional development that is integrated into various public facilities. This thesis uses qualitative methods based on literature, precedent, and design studies as well as quantitative methods through field data collection and questionnaires distributed online to 15 millennials in Bandung City. The data will then be analysed to produce design criteria that will be the basis for design development. The design criteria are divided into 3 categories, namely the criteria for cohousing sites, lot sites, and also residential units. From the design results, it is known that the Community Based Housing concept can be an affordable housing solution for the millennial community in the city of Bandung. Cohousing can also provide a variety of shared facilities that can be tailored to user preferences. In addition, the compact house concept is also applied to the scale of residential units to deal with various space requirements on limited land. This thesis is expected to serve as a foundation for similar studies in the future. text |
