Description
Summary:Indonesia is currently experiencing an era of demographic bonus, which is the productive age population dominates the population in the country. Currently, the millennial generation is the generation with the largest proportion being of productive age and is experiencing changes in the phases of life by starting to work, leaving the parental home, and starting to enter the initial stages of having a family. In the process as a young family, the millennial generation needs housing that is expected to be able to provide maximum satisfaction for its residents, because housing is not only used as shelter but also as a place for coaching and forming family character. This study uses a mixed method (qualitative-quantitative) which aims to identify the profile of millennial young families in Banda Aceh City, identify the dominant factors from physical attributes and then identify priority variables based on willingness to pay (WTP). Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires freely (non-random sampling) with a snow-ball-purposive sampling technique. Questionnaires were distributed using social media with three limitations, namely domicile, age of marriage, and age of head of family. The results of this study indicate that there are four physical attributes that influence the preferences of millennial young families in Banda Aceh City, namely natural characteristics, capacity and function, accessibility, and accommodation. Furthermore, it was found that lifestyle and culture were the background of the willingness to pay (WTP) in choosing the physical attributes of the dwelling.
