The effect of various doses of quinidine and its metabolites on arterial blood pressure in noradrenaline induced hypertensive male Wistar rats has been studied. The doses of quinidine sulfate and itsmetabolites were respectively 3.50, 5.75, 13.00, 30.00 and 1.45, 2.38, 5.39, 12.43 mg/kg body weight...

Noradrenaline dose of 750 ug/kg body weight in creases the sistolic, diastolic and arterial blood press ure of about 68 mmHg, 51 mmHg and 56 mmHg respectively with duration time of about three minutes. It was shown that either quinidine or its metabolites decreased the blood pressure significantly (P=0,05), and the higher the doses of quinidine or its metabolites the stronger the effect will be. The potency of both drugs in decreas ing the blood pressure were nearly the same, while at higher doses of 5,39 to 12,43 mg/kg body weight the potency was about 150%. text
