Description
Summary:The Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 has an impact on various sectors of life, including tourism sector. The Sustainable Livelihood Framework (SLF) is often referred to the study of poverty and rural development. On this basis, tourism development in Pangandaran Beach Area needs to focus on the community and the resources they have. The research was structured to deep understanding on the sustainable livelihoods of the community in Pangandaran Beach Area. SLF is identified include 5 (five) aspects, Vulnerability Context, Livelihood Resources, Structures and Processes, Livelihood Strategies, and Livelihood Outcomes. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collections techniques included moderate participatory observations, semi- structured interviews with informant that categorized into for different groups, as well as documentation. The analysis used Miles and Huberman's interactive model. This research shows that livelihoods of community in Pangandaran Beach Area during Covid-19 pandemic were at "Coping" stage. Livelihoods are currently sustainable, but it is unlikely to be better in the future if it is not balanced with improvement in livelihood aspects. The community had a quite hard time controlling resources due to the shock (pandemic). There's almost total dependence on natural resources and social aid from governance such as direct cash aid (financial resources). Livelihood can improve towards "Adapting" stage by maximizing intensification and extensification strategis, through development of tourism activities to reduce vulnerability.
