Indonesia Theses Biomotoric, Lung vital capacity, para badminton INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/70475 Background: Physical limitations do not hinder the achievements of Indonesian badminton athletes. Indonesian elite badminton athletes made brilliant achievements at international events. Measurement of physiological characteristics, especially biomotor and vital lung capacity is one of the benchmarks in assessing athlete performance. Research on para badminton athletes is still very limited. This study aims to examine the biomotor characteristics and lung vital capacity of Indonesian elite badminton athletes. Methods: This study uses an observational method with a quantitative descriptive design. The research subjects are Indonesian elite badminton athletes with SL3, SL4, SU5 and SS6 standing player classifications totalling 14 people consisting of 9 men and 5 woman. Each subject performs three stages of research. The first stage consists of anthropometric measurements. The second stage of measuring biomotor characteristics consists of strength, power, flexibility, speed, agility. The third step is measuring the vital capacity of the lungs. Results: The average value of biomotor characteristics on arm muscle strength, leg muscle strength, flexibility, leg muscle power, are included in the range of normal values, while speed and agility are included in the poor criteria. Based on statistical analysis of Mann Whitney U, it showed that there were significant differences in the leg muscle strength of male and female athletes. The results show that the lung vital capacity of Indonesian elite badminton athletes has FVC, FVP1, FEP below the normal average and there is no significant difference between male and female athletes. Conclusion: This study revealed that the biomotor characteristics of male athletes were better in arm muscle strength, leg muscle strength, leg muscle power and speed than female athletes. Meanwhile female athletes showed better results in flexibility and agility. This study also revealed that the lung vital capacity of female athletes was better than that of male athletes. text
