The advantages of urban farming can be an alternative solution to meet the needs of vegetables in Bandung through hydroponic farming techniques. Currently, vegetable production in Bandung has decreased from 35,538 quintals per year in 2019, to 35,181 quintals per year in 2020. While the average consumption of vegetables in 2020 in one week alone reached 35,217 quintals. So this study was conducted with the aim to analyze the sustainability status of urban farming system through hydroponic vegetable cultivation in Bandung from the ecological, economic, social, technical and institutional dimensions and determine the development strategy. This study was conducted in Bandung using survey methods, with the implementation of the study includes two main stages: first, the analysis of sustainability status through Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) with modified ordination techniques Rap-Ur-Agri (Rapid Appraisal for Urban Agriculture). Second, analysis of development strategy using SWOT and QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix). Respondents in this study consisted of eight businesses that are still active and continuous in conducting vegetable cultivation in Bandung. Primary data collection was conducted by direct observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Secondary Data were collected through literature review. The results showed that 1) Urban Farming of vegetable commodities in Bandung is included in the category of fairly sustainable in the social, and institutional dimensions with sustainability indices of 50.43%, and 50.16%, while the ecological, economical and technical dimensions are included in the sustainable category with sustainability indices of 67,02%, 62,41 and 68,61% respectively. 2) There are eight alternative development strategies to improve the sustainability status of urban farming of vegetable commodities in Bandung with the recommended priority strategy is to form farmer groups or increase intensive cooperation in urban farming communities that have been formed to expand information networks, increase competence and knowledge of business actors and to facilitate the preparation of cooperation programs with the government. text
