Fires caused by liquid or gaseous fuels (pool fires) triggered by ignition sources such as matches or electrical short circuits (piloted ignition), or by temperatures reaching the flash point (autoignition) can result in larger fires or explosions, with the release of toxic substances into the environment, causing material losses and loss of life. To obtain data on fire characteristics and behavior, such as Heat Release Rate (HRR), temperature, and flame duration, computational simulations were conducted using the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) with parameters of pan cross-sectional area, fuel type, and fuel mass. These computational simulations were validated with experiments to obtain synergized results. Experiments were conducted according to the simulation case scenario using three pan sizes, three fuel types (Methanol, Ethanol, Pertamax), and fuel mass variations. The results show that for a given fuel type, the pan cross-sectional area is directly proportional to the HRR value and influences the flame duration due to the closed compartment condition as well as the maximum temperature. However, fuel mass has little effect on the HRR value. text |

An understanding of the characteristics and behavior of fire in compartments is required as a basis for fire suppression.
