Theoretically, combination of these two problems can exacerbate the inadequacy problem of accessibility to opportunities, public services, and social interactions. This phenomenon oftenly be viewed as an unending dilemma for low-income community, who critically need those certain things of accesibilities. Limited financial capability encourages low-income community to further minimize their daily transportation expenses, but at the same time they are also required to maintain their survival as a part of society. Thus, this study aims to identify the movement behavior of low-income communities in the peri-urban area of Bandung City, with Ujung Berung District informal settlement area are used as a case study. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive approach, which utilizes descriptive, inferential, and non-experimental associative statistical analysis methods, accompanied by spatial analysis methods, such as kernel density and network analysis. The results of various analyzes that carried out show that low-income community in Bandung City peri - urban area have a tendency to make movements with shorter distances (to Ujung Berung Alun-Alun Area), minimize trip chains, make movements with a higher frequency and clear objectives, and also have a higher tendency to use public transportation and NMT. Those behavior can be understood as a logical consequence of their radical desire to reduce their daily transportation expenses. On the other hand, several behavior patterns of low-income community transportation movements were also found to be significantly differentiated between socio-economic groups among themselves. text |
