Summary: | Kampung Bajo is a coastal community located in Central Buton Regency,
Mawasangka District, Watolo Village. The people of Kampung Bajo settle and
live above coastal waters so that sanitation activities and household waste
disposal cause a periodic accumulation of food waste and other than food waste.
The seawater degrades most of the food waste becoming coastal sludge; other
than food waste is carried away as marine debris during high tide and left behind
as coastal waste when sea water recedes. Other than food waste is then analyzed
through primary and secondary data to determine the projected processing and
utilization. The analysis resulted in waste generation sampling obtained the
amount of generation of 0.85 kg/person/day with a solid waste density of 822.29
kg/m3. In 2022, the projected waste generation is 1,084.18 kg/day consisting of
73.19% food waste and 26.81% other than food waste. Other than food waste
composition is divided: 9.83% plastic; paper 5.86%; ceramic 0.11%; rubber
0.03%; textile 0.09%; metal 0.53%; 2.02% glass; B3 and others 8.17%. The
potential for the management and utilization of food waste is determined through
an analysis of alternative technologies: composting, Black Soldier Fly (BSF)
technology, and biodigasification technology. Based on the results of weighting
using the SAW (Simple Additive Weighting) method, the selected alternative
technology was composting with a 73.19% treatability potential. There are three
scenarios for managing and handling household waste in Kampung Bajo: shortterm scenario, medium-term scenario; and long-term scenario. Within the longterm waste management plan, the current rate of food waste removal 73,19% and
other than food waste removal of 26,81% is estimated to achieve 100% by the
next 20 years. The selected system aligned with the potential for the development
and utilization of waste in Kampung Bajo as a form of economic value and
community empowerment. The waste management planning system depicted in the
Material Flow Analysis includes a system of transportation, sorting, processing, and utilization of waste.
