Summary: | One sector that plays a major role in river pollution in the Upper Citarum area is
the textile industry sector. River pollution will have an impact on the composition
of macrozoobenthos. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of
pollution, diversity of macrozoobenthos, and macrozoobenthic taxa as bioindicators
of river pollution in the textile industrial area in the Upper Citarum Watershed. The
sampling period for water, sediment, and macrozoobenthos is from May – October
2021. The research location is located in rivers in residential and textile industrial
areas in the Upper Citarum Watershed. Data analysis includes the determination of
the water pollution index with the Nemerow index, the use of the Shannon-Wiener
diversity index and the Important Value Index (IVI), and Principal Component
Analysis (PCA). The results of the analysis stated that the river in the textile
industry area was moderately and heavily polluted. The Importance Value Index
indicates the dominance of Tubifex sp. on the river in the textile industry area and
the codomination of Chironomus sp. and Hydropsyche sp. in the river upstream of
Citarum. Macrozoobenthos communities with higher diversity exist in residential
areas upstream compared to textile industrial areas which indicate environmental
deterioration. Based on the results of PCA analysis, it can be seen that there is a
separation of station characters based on the physico-chemical characteristics of
water and sediment. The location upstream of Citarum has the key parameters of
NO3, Hydropsyche sp., Pseudocloeon sp., and Callibaetis sp. The Majalaya textile
industrial area has key parameters BOD, COD, turbidity, conductivity, oil and fat,
ammonia, and TSS with taxa that can be used as bioindicators are Tubifex sp. |
