Summary: | Huawei is an ICT (Information and Communication Technology) infrastructure provider. For the operator business segment, Huawei's competitors are vendors from China (ZTE, Fiberhome) and vendors from Europe (Ericsson, Nokia). Chinese vendors have good ICT infrastructure quality and very competitive prices. This condition has the potential to replace Huawei's position as market leader. Vendors from China have succeeded in creating a new target market. The new target market in question is the installation of fiber optic and cellular networks using the government budget for non-commercial areas.
The purpose of this study was to create scenarios for the next five years. After that, analyze each of these scenarios. The research method was carried out with scenario planning. Data collection was done in combination. A combination of literature searches, internal sources, interviews with Huawei management, customers, and competitors.
The research results obtained two key driving forces: Business Demand and Competitor Strategy. The scenario results obtained are: Huawei Leading the Way, Huawei Ready to Compete. Next is Huawei Keep Running, and Huawei Able to Walk. Implementation will take place from 2023 to 2027 period.
The results of this study provide three recommendations. The first is to assist the government in making strategic policies. The aim is to expand the use of communication technology to a wider business sector. It is also important to support domestic creators to create technology content. The goal is to absorb the needs of technology communication. The last recommendation is cooperation with the government and stakeholders. The cooperation is to create a roadmap and assistance in improving communication technology capabilities. This can support the development carried out by the government through economic digitalization.
