In this process, a surfactant slug id first injected followed by polymer as a mobility control buffer. The primary purpose of the surfactant - polymer injection is to lower the interfacial tension between the oil and aqueous phases. The design of surfactant - polymer injection is complicated due to multiple three phase behaviour with state variable is water, oil, surfactant, polymer, total anion and ion calcium. The theoritical characterization of the optimal control is obtained using pontryagin maximum principe, H2 control and H∞ control. Optimal control theory are presented maximimize the amount of oil recovered and minimizing the chemical cost with determining the injected concentration for surfactant - polymer injection. Simulation are presented comparison the amount of oil recovered and the chemical cost with designed controller maximum principe, H2 control, and H∞ control. The effectiveness of the approach has been established by numerical result. text
